Do you feel secure

Deepin seems to be a complete out of the box working linux Distribution. BUT, it comes from China. It has a custom Kernel, so who can really see what is happening.

My question is: "What are users's feelings about doing purchasing, money related actions, e-mail with passwords, etc. ?

What's wrong with Made in China? I use HTC and Huawei cellphones both far excellent than iphone. Much of the steel mercantile stocks made in european countries "today" you see <I see> them loaded into 40footer vans in China factories bearing with labels "Made in Germany". If you only know what's happening in the "market" today you will have no worry.

That's a different story. You ought download <not purchase> linux kernels only from qualified kernel or distro sites.

As always... INsecure.

Hope that helps.

Doesn't the kernel have a configuration file to show what options it contains? You should be able to find it in /boot/config* or /proc/config.gz.

You should do all that with Microsoft Windows®, rather. It will not astonish everybody as much.
As with all Chinese products, this one will lay your home in ashes and put a spell on your children, grand-children and theirs. Did your coffee taste a little... strange, this morning.

I understand, we are in church, here and believing is all. Ever been wondering how any of the functions, that you list above, actually function? It is all the devil's work, I tell you.

I must admit that I don't purchase goods or do banking online. It's not so much the actual transactions that bother me; it's all done through https so it's encrypted against eavesdroppers. But once your details are on some company's database, they are only as secure as that company's security policy makes them. And we've all seen lately how poor some of those are.

Here in France people act unaware of the fact, that most of the cards that shops give out to allow “advantages” of all kinds, are managed by the same companies, that they are also responsible for the credit card systems and the same databases serve to merge information of diverse origin about the same person. But I also doubt that they see a problem with that and irrespective of the fact that the databases are not even in France most of the time...

I consider the question of Linux security in this context a moot point. Why do I comment in this thread, then (you have to ask)? Probably because I am having the same kind of discussion every few days or so and I was too disappointed when I noticed that the subject line does not reveal which topic we are supposed to deal, here...
