Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Hello. 12.12 final very nice interface it is!
however, since it's installed on amd E2 APU in this particular case, I suppose, some graphic acceleration issues were noticeable on out-of-the-box system. So I tried additional drivers, and one of available AMD packages actually installed and became activated - but not currently in use as it states. Other one gave warning of unsupported hardware in a watermark. With installed driver, I can modify settings of AMD Catalyst Control Centre applet, and that works (color temperature and processing triggers). The issue is, something happened to background of desktop - it is black now, no wallpaper. Also terminal windows got black, as well as the font color in it, which me was able to fix by disabling follow the system color scheme in terminal profile settings.
What do I do with wallpaper - maybe there was some config which got changed upon unsupported driver install; and is it correct that driver pack is in 'not in use' state - not that I'm concerned while it actually works..it's an MSI laptop after all..
""-it disappeared after driver activation) having found no window manager setting tool in GUI and I'm not quite desperate to tinker somewhere while there might be an exact place
wallpaper absense is a symptom, I don't see weather and time eyecandies, and desktop links are not visible as well
ati ccc was the one I hit almost immediately once that blackscreen appeared upon reboot after driver activation) some of the settings there do work as I mentioned earlier
it got fixed I didn't ask for the outputs proposed. think I'd look at the log for record of what happened, only if I knew which of the log files to look at
