Question Suggestion for RHCSA certification

Hi.

I am a new to the forum and have a very basic Knowledge about the Red Hat.

I have taken RHEL 5 training from an approved Red Hat center in 2009, but was not able to study as there was no examination center in our country.

Right now I have prepared my mind to appear in the exam. Need help, will I be able to practice and prepare for the exam in a two months period. How much daily practive time is suggest by experts here. And where to find exam helping materials or practical tasks to work out at home pc for practice.

Is there any option available for RHCSA exam for the pass guarantee ( something like to appear again the same day for the same exam if you did not qualify )

any help will be much appreciated .

Thanks

Z. Ahmed

I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but if you haven't touched Linux since 2009, you are NOT qualified to take a certification exam, that will say you're an expert. Two months may be enough if you practice for several hours a day, but even then you will not have the REAL skills that someone who KNOWS the subject will.

You may be able to barely pass and say you're 'certified', but that certification will be meaningless. If you use that certification to get a job, it will be VERY obvious, VERY quickly, that you don't have the skills. Take your time....LEARN Linux. Download CentOS, install it, configure it, and USE IT, daily. Solve problems, learn how to troubleshoot. Don't just take an exam so you can say you're 'certified'.

Hi.

Thanks for the quick response. I m not just after the certification. The Only reason behind this is no examination center in our country. So in the coming future ( after two month ) may be i get access to an examination center abroad but time seems to be short. So was searching out to have some suggestions from expert and get some push.

Regards...

Get most-recent training materials, and set up a copy of the corresponding recent system on a virtual-machine so that you can play with it and work through the exercises.

Maybe "getting an actual certificate" will be useful and meaningful for you ... but the self-taught experience of studying for it most certainly will be worth doing. (Frankly, I think that if you set-aside the goal of "passing an actual test and getting an actual piece of paper to show for it," you might well get more out of the experience than you otherwise would. There is no such thing in this world as a "Golden Ticket," except in Willy Wonka movies...)

Certification training materials are set-up to present you with what the designers consider to be "realistic and important" scenarios that you might well encounter on-the-job. Then, they lead you through their solution. You will learn important information both from those solutions and from a study of the scenarios themselves.

As a professional in this field, you owe it to yourself to keep your skills current and up-to-date all the time, because this field is constantly changing even as it stays the same. You need to make it your business to do that (because it is "your business"), certificate or no.
