You don't take a certification to use a calculator.Do you?
That is how I treat when some one tells me they have done a certification to
use an operating system,network or any language.

Agree with you. If someone has done a certification, then obviously he should have sound knowledge of that technology. And if someone has a good knowledge of some technology, then obviously he should have knowledge of all it's related aspects, pros & cons, future etc.

I have even heard/read that companies like Redhat, Sun and Oracle recommends their certification aspirants to have minimum 6 months of work experience before they appear for certification exam.

Isn't it funny, that one has done a certification and now he's asking why I did that?

Hi Augustin.. Only RHCE certification is not enough to get you a job in INDIA. Even if you get one they won't pay you enough. Consider RHCE as a bonus point for your resume. Consider doing something else with this like have some strong learning in languages like C or C++ and shell scripting.

I am planning to do RHCE + CCNA, So I want to know the current scope of this course?

Certifications do not guarantee a job. They will just get you to the interview doorstep at the *max.
You see, a LOT of RHCE and CCNA holders here just read the dumps available and get the certs and sometimes buy.

Certificate or not, have the sound knowledge of whatever you're pursuing.

There is absolutely NO WAY anyone here can tell you that. Where you live, what your skills are, who you know, and how well prepared you are for an interview all play into your chances of getting a job.

If you want a guarantee that a paper 'certification' will get you a job, sorry...there isn't one, in India, or anywhere else in the world. LEARN the subject first...get experience and knowledge. Certificates are meaningless without those things.

It has been answered above if you care to read. If you want to go for a certificate, do it and do it well. Nothing provides job guarantee.
