Question Rhcss ??

Hi People,

I have earned 100% in RHCE yesterday . Now, I am aiming for Red Hat Certified Security Specialist (RHCSS). I am a bit confused, which module to start from.

* EX333 Red Hat Enterprise Security: Network Services
* EX423 Enterprise Directory Services and Authentication
* EX429 SELinux Policy Administration

My trainer is recommending me to start from EX429 as there are very few people in INDIA (or probably in world) with SELinux certificate. I am looking this thing otherwise, if there are very few SELinux certified people, will having a SELinux certificate benefit me immediately. I am a bit confused also, because I have not seen even a single company using SELinux in their production machines.

My logic is straight, I want to earn a certificate which benefits me in getting a good job & a handsome salary as soon as possible.

How is the demand for Directory Services (LDAP) and SELinux?

Could some one please help me out with this ?

Thanks in Advance

The demand for LDAP is huge, loads and loads of it going on though. Of course, this course is about Redhat Directory Server, which is Redhat wraparound for openldap. RHDS has a fairly small subset of the openldap installation base though, and i think it's horrible. So whilst this course is going to get you to grips with ldap concepts and openldap, it's really mainly in existance to flog copies of RHDS, which tarnishes it somewhat for me.

And as you've noticed, no bugger really uses SELinux. The project i'm working on at the moment was mandated to have to use SELinux as a matter of course on all the redhat services. Then the application developers said "we don't want to change our code to support SELinux" and so it all went out the window with a stroke of the pen. SELinux is pretty nice I think, shame. But yes, it's really common to run an "setenforce 0" on installation in the majority of RHEL implementations I'd say.

Whilst RedHat are trying to push their own certs, I don't really think they matter all that much yet. No one would *demand* and RCHA or RHCSS in a job advert for example. It could well tip a balance in your favour, but comparing guy A who has no certifications but implemented and managed a 200 node RH network compared to someone with an RHCSS but no commercial experience, it's no challenge to see who would get the nod.

Thanks a ton Chris. You made my mind. I would go for EX423 Enterprise Directory Services and Authentication. I believe that would help me earn a respectable job and a handsome salary If any other suggestions are there Chris, you are most welcome.

Best Regards

Hi Vikas,

DO u have any online RHCSS course material for study or redhat original material.

If you are in india can u suggest the best training center in Delhi NCR region for RHCSS training.

Thanks a lot.

hey Pankaj,

Well I have just completed Red Hat Enterprise Directory Services and Authentication RH423. I dont have much RHCSS course material much as in soft copy.

I dont know about the best, but yes Network Nuts is a good institute for RHCSS (and RHCE) too.

I will recommend you to join its Kotla branch, as the whole branch is for Linux only. It will be a good choice for you. Here is the address.

Hope this helps.

No idea about the best, but yes Rajiv Sir taught me.

Moreover, as I have already mentioned whole branch is Linux only. Dont doubt on teacher's credibility.
