You'd be better off with Centos (a free RedHat clone)

I second sycamorex, using CentOS you'll have the same environment required plus it's free. CentOS stands for Community Enterprise Operating System and is built using Redhat OS source RPM's. You can call CentOS a replica of Redhat albeit the Redhat Logos :-)

Use virtualbox, it's free and (the free version) is open source.

I have no firm basis for this but---If I were training for a RedHat Certification, I would not have RHEL or CentOS running in a VM. I would install it directly.

Rationale:
The use of a VM could introduce some sort of artifact, quirk, etc. which would get in the way of learning the basics. I could imaging chasing VM issues when I was supposed to be learning the basic OS.

If you are doing an RHCE, do it the RedHat way, go RHEL.
Knowing RedHat Satelite and RHN is probably part of the exam,no ? ( I did LPI as its all Linux's ).

Use CentOS, it'd be silly to buy a RHEL license when you can do everything that you need to do in CentOS.

I sort of agree. VMs are useful because you can set up multiple servers and clients on one box, but it's also helpful to be familiar with installing CentOS or RHEL on a physical box. Simple solution, install vmware or virtualbox on a CentOS host.
