Linux Certifications Question

Hi All,
Sorry if this is not in the correct place not sure where to put it.

So i am looking to get some training with LPI but i came across this quote from a 2011 post while reading results for which is better Comptia linux or LPI.

Is this still valid?

Quote:
If you pass the CompTIA Linux+ (LX0-101 and LX0-102) exams, earning you the Linux+ cert, you ALSO automatically earn:

1. The LPIC-1
2. The Novell CLA (Certified Linux Administrator)
3. Novell Data Center Technical Specialist

You have to register with LPI on their website to get an LPI ID number, and when taking the Linux+ exams you must select to send your score information to LPI. When you get the LPIC-1 you automatically get the Novell CLA (and by extension the Novell DCTS), so you have to register with Novell as well to get all 4 certs in one fell swoop.

Thanks.

You might have checked comptia.org where it says you can still get LPIC-1, but it does not mention the Novell freebies. The exams are renamed LX0-103 and LX0-104 now.

Do you really think it's worth $400?

Cheers!

Welcome [back] gasric! Learning and 'puzzles' [&thus test questions = cert] fascinates me: FUN!

A 1st question/concept comes to mind: specific GOALs: What [more precisely] are you/I wanting to accomplish?
Getting a ['better'] job? Or just 'because it's there' (personal achievement/'fun')?

p.s. Crazy idea: buy LQcert.xyz $1 domain, and create -free- certS, self-graded, concept-based:
like: 11)AWS 11.1)Containers 11.1.1)Docker 11.1.1.1)Deploy .iso ....1) its VPN config ......
In -my- ..., it wouldn't have laborious/rote questions, but instead: just 'THE' web-search keywords!
One would simply check-box an item, when they have both: done it, and 'feel' mastery of it
(my concept is like how interviews ask specific '{have, how would} you [done/do this ...]'?)
Of course it 'guarantees' NOthing, but 'certs' don't guarantee anything (as often discussed)!

Anyway, Best Wishes... ENJOY! (There's many prior LQ threads on cert...)

Certifications are a product. Companies know that they can sell you a lot of training material, maybe sell you a very expensive classroom course, and then sell you the right to take a test. For which you get a piece of paper.

Education is useful, if well-done by a professional trainer. (Full disclosure: I am one.) The study-guides are also often useful as a self-study resource. Just understand that "there is no Golden Ticket." Having a certification won't land you the job, and not having a certification won't prevent you from getting it.
