I am interested in obtaining status as an RHCT, and then proceeding towards RHCE certification. Also, I just ordered a new notebook computer, and plan to get Red Hat installed on it...Questions: Which Red Hat Guides, are best to look towards for satisfying the latest RHCT objectives? And, which Red Hat version should I plan to purchase and become familiar with, out of preparation for both an RHCT/RHCE pursuit?

Thanks!

FYI...the RHCE encompasses the RHCT.
Basically you can still get the RHCT if you pass that part (i.e. you can receive your RHCT even though you failed the RHCE...just as long as you pass the RHCT part.
The problem with getting your RHCT _then_ your RHCE is that you STILL have to take the RHCT part of the RHCE test.
Example:
Take the RHCT - pass
...Wait a few months of study...
Take the RHCE
RHCT - Pass
RHCE - Pass
So even though you have your RHCT, you still have to take the test AGAIN to get your RHCE...
Thanks for the reply. So, basically, I should plan to get started with the PDF downloads under RHEL 5.2, correct?
The certification press book is good, better than the documentation on the RH site if your starting out. The book will give you loads of info about how to study. Some of the documentation on the RH site can be terse.
Though you can get the evaluation version of RH you can also get CentOS which is so close to RH not to matter for training purposes, it is a very close cousin rebuilt from the open source parts (most of) of RHEL 5.2. There is no time limit and you have free access to updates.
I work with fully licensed RHEL5 all day and the differences for the most part are few and far between. I use Centos for building dev boxes before switching to RHEL for preproduction tests.
Currently, I'm looking to download the latest ISO images of CentOS 5.2. I have an AMD64 processor, and am guessing I'd want to download and install an x86_64-based image...correct?
