Linux+ certification
 

I have recently failed the Linux+ exam. If anyone, has some good tips or study material that they would like to share, please e-mail me at jimmy.taylorjr@us.army.mil. I am stationed in the Army and the subject matter materials that I purchased were very lacking and did not prepare me at all for the exam.

I am under the impression that we can't talk about braindumps in this chatroom, therefore I have left my e-mail address.

Thanks in advance. I just want the proper study material. I had material for xko-001 and it recently changed to xko-002. I don't want to purchase anymore crappy study material that isn't for the test. I want to get to the point and I want to know if anyone has any good reccomendations or suggestions.

Sad to here about. Please can u give me some info of the exam to be taken first to do RCHT and where are the exams centers present.

I didn't quite understand what you were asking. From what I can tell the RHCT is much more difficult than the Linux+ exam. It is also more expensive.

The subject matter of the exam was more than general. There were a lot of syntax questions on the exam and you had to be exact.

It says that the test is for someone with about six months of experience with Linux but the test looked like it was designed for someone with considerable experience and significant experience.

Have you considered the official "CompTIA Press" books? They're really published by Thompson.

I used Thompson's courseware (which included a CertBlaster practice test CD BTW) for my Security+ studies and aced the exam, FWIW. Also read Sybex Security+ and Exam Cram Security+ books though. Best not to rely on just one source IMHO. Exam Cram was much more thorough on countermeasures than the Thompson book, for example.

Anyway, I took Linux+ before the most recent revision so afraid can't make any specific recommendations. Good luck on your next attempt though.

I also failed the XK0-002
 

I found the exam to be much harder than the practice material. I agree its better suited to somebody with more than 6 months experience.

The questions were nothing like the ones I expected. They were very different from XK0-001. I am considering taking LPC exams now. Very disappointed.

CompTIA Linux+ study materials
 

Try the page from the CompTIA site that lists the approved study materials for Linux+ (under Certifications/Linux+/CAQC materials). The Sybex books are very well organized but a combination of study plus solid network/Linux experience is best, because this is a "foundation" level rather than entry-level exam. Good luck.
