Current RHCE for RHCVA?

Hi All,

Is it required to be current RHCE to be eligible for appearing for RHCVA exam?. Or is it enough to be any RHCE certified, to be eligible for appearing for RHCVA exam?.

The link https://www.redhat.com/training/cert...ons/expertise/
says the following:

Code:

"Certification program requirements:
Only a current RHCE is eligible to earn a Certificate of Expertise.
There are 7 Certificates of Expertise:
Red Hat Enterprise Security: Network Services Expertise Exam (EX333)
Red Hat Enterprise Deployment and Systems Management Expertise Exam (EX401)
Red Hat Enterprise Clustering and Storage Management Expertise Exam (EX436)
Red Hat Enterprise System Monitoring and Performance Tuning Expertise Exam (EX442)
Red Hat Enterprise Directory Services and Authentication Expertise Exam (EX423)
Red Hat Enterprise SELinux Policy Administration Expertise Exam (EX429)
Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHCVA) Exam (EX318)"

But the Institute conducting RHCVA says it is not required to be current RHCE, in fact not required to be RHCE certified at all for appearing for RHCVA exam.

Kindly clarify.

Thank you in advance.

Sitting for the exam and getting the certificate are two different functions. The training company gets paid for the exam so they may not care if RedHat subsequently tells you "Sorry, although you passed the exam, you're not eligible for RHCVA because you're not currently an RHCE."

If it were me and they were telling me it isn't necessary I'd make them put it in writing with a guarantee of an exam refund if RedHat refused to issue you RHCVA even though you passed the exam. If they're not willing to do that I wouldn't trust what they say very far.

Thank you very much, Mensawater and very well said!

Yes your point is very practical.

The statement made in the redhat site is not the same as what the statement made by the Institute.

You do not need to be an RHCE to sit the RHCVA exam. However, a reasonable amount of Linux experience will be helpful.

Other RHCA level exams that require an RHCE, the examinar will precheck your RHCE number to see if it is valid - if not you will not be allowed to sit the exam.
