rpms, debs, none of em work
welli was told that lindows runs .debs but i have a few and that isnt the case how do i run these? and how do i convert with alien, and where do i get these things, i havent seen these questions asked before

You don't actually run them. They're like compressed archives, you have to install them first. It's best to get apt-get running to do all that for you. If, however, you want/need to install an individual package then you have to use dpkg -i <package name>.deb.

I find regular Debian is usually highly underrated. Horses for courses, though.
