Install non-CNR applications, can it be done?

I'm curious if non-CNR applications can be installed. For example the version of Gaim is out of date, and doesnt work for all the protocals anymore. I already have a subscription to Transgaming, so i dont need to buy it again. I already own a copy of CrossOverOffice, so lets not pay that helfty price again.

If anyone has done it or knows how, I want to install Gaim, my cedega, and crossover office.

You can but its a bit more of a hassle then you would probably be used to. Considering that you can't use some other package manager or else you will mess of what you already have on your system, I think that you have three choices:

1)Keep paying for CNR.
2)Install another linux distribution.
3)Learn about compiling your own stuff from source. This can be very hard to do but is the most flexible.

Good luck with that. ;0
