upgrade 2.7 classic to latest

Hi I am trying out a debian distro at the moment after reaching a comfortable spot using redhat/suse . I tried installing debian itself a few times without success, could not get x to start.

so i tried libranet 2.7 classic and was up and running without too much trouble.

I want to upgrade it to the latest debian testing package.

I'd like to know if simply adding the line below to my etc/apt/sources.list ad then doing a apt-get upgrade would do the job.

thanks.

deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/dists/ testing main contrib non-free

Not sure exactly about the source line, but something like it should work... Libranet is basic'ly somebody else's version of Debian. That means Libranet picked out the packages they thought should go into their distro, and added an installer and what-nots. They are 100% compatible with Debian lists, so you can get packages from either.

You might have to run "apt-get dist-upgrade".

OK thanks.

I am trying to bring it up to date and I guess using the testing branch from debian should do the job then.

Just remember that it is the "testing" branch... Might not be ready for primetime.
