How to migrate files securely between Incognito and Windows XP ?
 

First off, I really like Incognito and all of the privacy/security problems it addresses wrapped up in one package. Thank you very much anonym and others for all of your hard work and for making this available to the public.

I've just recently started exploring Linux distros (primarily a WinXP user) so sorry for the newb question... I'm having trouble figuring out how to migrate files securely between Incognito and Windows and was wondering if anyone could offer any suggestions. I'm running Incognito off a USB drive w/ a persistent TrueCrypt encrypted home folder so I'd like to just be able to save the files on an encrypted folder on the USB drive or an external HD.

Thus far I've tried (in Windows) mounting the encrypted home folder through TrueCrypt but when I click on the newly mounted drive, it tells me I need to format the drive. Since I learned the home folder is in the ext3 format, I tried opening it w/ explore2fs.exe and had no luck w/ that either... only gave me the option to format the mounted disk.

I guess there may networking alternatives as well, but I'd really prefer my operating systems be totally isolated from each other. I know there are a lot of different ways to migrate files between normal Linux distros and Windows but due to the unique locked down nature of Incognito, I figured you guys might be able to help. Any suggestions or pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.

One way is to encrypt the files with GPG or TrueCrypt. GPG can encrypt individual files, but AFAIK will require you to use the commandline. TrueCrypt, on the other hand, has a GUI but since it creates containers with complete filesystems inside, you'll have to format it with a filesystem which both OS:es can read, e.g. FAT32.

When the files are encrypted any mode of transfer should be secure (given a strong enough passphrase).

Thanks for the reply anonym. Created a new TC container on the USB and it worked like a charm. For some reason, initially, I was thinking the container had to be located in the home.tc folder for it to be readable in Incognito, but locating it elsewhere solved the problem.
