Microsoft Wireless Optical Blue mouse-- accuracy, sensitivity?

alright I am in a similar situation to this guy: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/history/29036

However, he ended up taking it back and I would prefer to keep mine because it was a gift from my girlfriend. (I think she got a deal on it and we're both students, and it's sort of sentimental) So here's the question.

I used the "microsoft intellimouse" drivers when kudzu recognized it. The mouse works, but it's really not that accurate or sensative. I dont' know whether it's a driver that I need or I need to set something in the Kontrol Panel in KDE, or whatever file it edits.

So could anyone either point me in the direction of a driver or how to set the sensativity?

I'll send screenshots, etc of the mouse settings when I get home. I'm currently visiting my grandparents a couple of hours away and I won't be home till ten or eleven.

If anyone can give me any help in the mean-time it would be greatly appreciated.

If it's very bad it's not going to be any adjustment.
I would say get another mouse..
You can keep the blue one as a relic of the past.
It's just not going to be worth the frustration.

microsoft might have built it that way to discourage Linux users

I edited my XF86Config-4 file and used a different included file that I'd read about in another post about this (the other guy got a new mouse). I'm now using whatever driver the guy w/ a logitech wheel uses

/dev/input/mice

before it was just

/dev/mouse

after that driver and tweaking the acceleration and threshold a bit (i'll probably end up tweaking even more) it seems to work ok. The wheel still fails to work, however.

Maybe someone will write something in a few months...

if anyone has another mouse driver that works w/ wheeled mice I'd be happy to hear about it. I think I'll upgrade to RH8 and see if they've got anything. I need to get an older version of kde though.

I'm not ready to give up on it yet

thanx

If that comforts you I can tell you that is a crappy mouse, it is bad in Windows too, I hate how heavy it gets with batteries. Buy Logitech corded optical wheel mouse, much better and works excellent.

yeah, I had the zaxis...

and I added "Buttons"...

but I've still got nothing

I dont' know, I think I'm definately going to keep this thing-- it works fine w/ just the two buttons, and I went years before recently w/o a middle scroll. I'll just wait a couple months till it's supported

thanx

logged in as normal and then as root

bash:gpm:command not found

?

maybe I don't know if that's a universal command or just my distro

I'm gonna completely reinstall anyhow, so it probably wont matter

thanx though
