Opening bittorrent files

What is the easiest way to open a .torrent file (i know double-clicking doesn't work)?

you need a bit-torrent client a .torrent just has info about the download it doesn't contain the music/movie/sofware you want. I use QTorrent but there are many bit-torrent clients

ok qtorrent seems to work but one problem

i open my .torrent .. initalizing .... it sits at that. should I try another torrent file (not saying from where (that would violate forum policy i believe (but this is where my cousin says he gets torrent files, and he says it works (do i have to change settings?)

assuming you have bittorrent installed on your pc you open a prompt and type:

btdownloadcurses.py file.torrent
OR
btdownloadcurses.py http://web.torrent

ALSO
the README file that comes with bittorrent explains how to launch it just by clicking in a web browser

ok when you open a torrent it has to initialize and find seeds (computers with a whole copy of what you want) and leechers (others downloading the same file) this can take a while it takes forever on my mac with the official bit-torrent client. also if you are behind a firewall and the ports that bit-torrent uses to connect to you and upload from you are closed then your download will be slow 'cause the more you share the faster it gets. Bit-torrent usual uses ports 6881 to 6999 and you need at least one open port for each client you plan to run behind the fire wall

Do you think 4 seeders are enough (+2 partial completes)? Its only 15 MB so I dont care about download speed.
