RedHat 7.2 with ATI Radeon M6

Hi

I'm new to Linux. I'm trying to install RedHat 7.2 on my HP Omnibook 6100. It's got an ATI Radeon Mobility M6 video card in it. The installation of RedHat goes smooth. It goes into graphical mode. Once I run startx I get problems. Can anyone help me pls.

regards

Lorenzo

Smile

Open the BIOS setting, (F2).

set Video Display = auto
set Video Expansion = enabled
set Primary Video = internal

After boot up, try to use one display mode only (fn, F5 buttons)
The notebook has dual display capability. However the driver is not happy with it.

I have not find the driver for the modem (intel)yet, anyone?

Hope this help.

Newer distros

If you lived here in SoCal, I'd burn them for you! How about going to Best Buy or Wlamart and buying a newer distro? Mandrake 8.2 and SUSE 8.0 are out and either one would only cost you $40

Guys, check out lsl.com
you can get your linux distros for a few bucks.
Saves downloading it, and much cheaper than buying the box.

Probably

I can't guarantee anything but if Redhat 7.3 worked fine on my newer Radeon it SHOULD work on an older Radeon
