KDE dcopserver problem

I am unable to get kde to run in grafpup, also, when I try to run kde applications from the terminal, I get this sort of thing:
sh-3.00# kuickshow
kdeinit: Launched DCOPServer, pid = 16609 result = 0
DCOPClient::attachInternal. Attach failed Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed
ICE Connection rejected!

DCOPClient::attachInternal. Attach failed Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed
DCOPServer self-test failed.
ICE Connection rejected!

DCOPServer : slotTerminate() -> sending terminateKDE signal.
DCOPServer : slotSuicide() -> exit.
iceauth: timeout in locking authority file /root/.ICEauthority
kdeinit: DCOPServer could not be started, aborting.

Can anyone help on this please?

Cheers, Mike
