gpkgtool cannot install additional software

I'm a new grafpup2 user. Its full multi-user environment is what convinced me to install it to my hard drive instead of puppy. I'm making this post from a running hard drive install of grafpup2, so it is obvious that my internet connection is working.

A few attempts to install additional software using gpkgtool were unsuccessful. For instance the following messages appeared after i tried installing gnumeric:

cat: /tmp/gpkgtool/gpkgtool_removequeue.txt: No such file or directory
cp: omitting directory `/usr/share/pixmaps/gaim'
cp: cannot stat `/usr/share/mini-icons/gphone.xpm': No such file or directory
/usr/X11R7/bin/lxpanel-menu-refresh: line 19: cd: /opt/kde/share/icons/default.kde/22x22/apps: No such file or directory
cp: cannot stat `/usr/share/mini-icons/gphone.xpm': No such file or directory

Despite the dialogue box displaying the message "all actions complet" gnumeric was not installed.

Is there perhaps a gpkgtool configuration that needs to be modified before gpkgtool would work? By the way, I'm on a network.

Can somebody help? Thanks.

I have no idea what's going on there, but it may be worth trying by manually downloading the packages from the packages directory at Grafpup.org and then using the option to install a locally downloaded package.

likely missing pkgsource.txt

When I remastered Grafpup 2.0, I noticed that the /root/.packages/pkgsource.txt file didn't get transferred. Until I copied that file from the original CD, gpkgtool could not install any packages.
I did another remaster manually copying that file, and everything worked fine.

gpkgtool cannot install additional software

Thanks bhigham and disciplepup.

For bhigham: Despite the existence of packages.txt and other files in ./root/packages, the problem happened.

For disciplepup: The workaround you gave was what i actually did to install additional files. However, it would be nice if the gpkgtool worked as intended.

Somebody please help!

EDIT: I misread the name of the file. I'll look if pkgsource.txt is there as well.

pkgsource.txt in ./root/packages to make gpkgtool work

I confirm that pkgsource.txt is in ./root/packages. Other files in the directory are buildvariables, livepackages.txt, packages.txt, and README.txt. Inspite of that, gpkgtool would not install additional software.

Has somebody found a solution to the problem? Thanks!

gpkgtool not installing additional software

While trying out the Puppy Software Installer, I found the solution when I caught a message window/box flash with a wget error message. I opened wgetrc and discovered that the proxy address was commented out. I then put the correct proxy address there, tried gpgktool again and it worked!
