Wireless config trouble

I'm running a Dlink wireless N PCI card using the ralink 3060 chipset. I went through the gentoo wiki pages and made all the necessary changes. I also emerged linux-firmware, but have had no luck getting my wifi up. The card shows up with lspci, and the drivers from ralink don't compile with the latest gentoo sources kernel. If you need me to provide some outputs for your perusal, just ask. I'm totally stumped and would greatly appreciate some advice. Thank you in advance.

How are the drivers not compiling? Could you post the errors you are getting?

As far as your device, I own a few devices with ralink chipsets, and normally I install compat-wireless, which contains many patches I use, and never had a problem with it.

Cheers,

Josh

I took your advice and installed compat-wireless using 'make && sudo make install', and after restarting wlan0 appeared. Unfortunately, it's not showing up in gnome networkmanager. Once again I'm stuck. For clarification, I do have in conf.d/net it set to managed mode.

Does the output of "lspci -k" show the driver for your wireless device?

mbrowell 11-18-2011 10:38 PM

Yes, it does show the driver.

mbrowell@mbdesktop ~ $ sudo lspci -k

Do you have wpa_supplicant installed?

Yes, I have wpa_supplicant installed.
