ugh...gentoo wont boot and stops at initramfs :(

Hey everyone

I installed gentoo tonight & I used a genkernel configuration for the kernel. After I was done with all of the steps in the handbook and I was ready to reboot into Gentoo for the first time (I removed the cd from the cd rom) I ran into this error during Gentoo's boot up process in the messages:

booting (initramfs)
no inittab found

Enter runlevel:

the cursor at that point just stays there and blinks and the boot up process hangs. This is what my grub.conf file looks like:

# This is a sample grub.conf for use with Genkernel, per the Gentoo handbook
# http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handboo...p=10#doc_chap2
# If you are not using Genkernel and you need help creating this file, you
# should consult the handbook. Alternatively, consult the grub.conf.sample that
# is included with the Grub documentation.

and this is my inittab:

/etc/inittab: This file describes how the INIT process should set up
# the system in a certain run-level.

any ideas as to what may have gone wrong? also which steps I should take to fix this? Thank you in advance!

Mount

Reboot into your CD and skip to the step, where you mount your fs. Continue, but skip genkernel and do it by hand.
