Retrieving older gentoo-sources

I'm unable to compile vmware-server due to a bug with newest gentoo kernel and would therefore like to go back to version 2.6.25-r7. However I don't have the sources and am not sure where to download it on the internet. Can someone help me.

hi, -r7 is no longer in portage, -r9 is though, so just "emerge -1 =gentoo-sources-2.6.25-r9" (the -1 oneshot flag stops this package from being updated with world). You can download the sources manually from kernel.org, and the patches (and sources) from any gentoo mirror (distfiles directory).

Stop hanging onto the past.

emerge layman, then use it to add the vmware overlay.
That contains vmware-server 2, which works ok on later kernels.
Its web based console interface is really horrible but it works.

You may need to fetch the tarball from the vmware site and put it in /usr/portage/distfiles before the emerge works.
