mirrors give errors

Is it me, or is there a problem with some gentoo mirrors? I have not been able to download anything for the past day or so. All I get is

endlessly. I get the same when I try to use http://mirror.pacific.net.au.

Why not use a mirror from another country ? ?

With "lightspeed" there isn't much difference
from a local.

I use American ( and Australian ) mirrors with no problems.

Catch 22!

I could not emerge mirrorselect to do that. I suppose I could have used a search engine to locate another server, but I thought I would wait one more day before trying.

As it turned out, this morning I "emerge -aDu world" and got an unexpected all up-to-date message - nothing to do, when yesterday it was trying to emerge 3 packages.

emerge --sync, and try again. 7 packages emerged successfully. Problem gone.
