Is it possible to install gentoo from the 10 year anniversary edition LiveDVD?

Hello.
I Downloaded the 10 year anniversary LiveDVD gentoo iso intending to try installing gentoo. To my disappointment I found that it did not have the installer (or at least I can't find it if it does). I looked on the dvd and found that it does have the kernel in a .igz file on the dvd. I would assume that you could "recompile" gentoo onto your hard drive, right? I have recompiled my kernel multiple times in slackware so I am somewhat familiar with the process. If any body can help I would appreciate it. I could download 10.1 but right now I have very slow download speed and would rather not have to burn another dvd.

If I said something that doesn't make sense please let me know so that I can rephrase it.

Thanks in advance.

Gentoo is usually built by hand from scratch by the user (sort of).

Older live gentoo cd's did have an installer to get you started but they sort of defeat the purpose of gentoo. The latest dvd does not have an installer to my knowledge.

You build gentoo from a shell on an exsisting system (which can be live cd or dvd).

Goto http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml and have a good read of the documentation. It will tell you how to install it step by step.

As it builds every package from source code, it can be time consuming. Expect to have a working system in a few days to a week! But it is a good system to learn linux on and fun to play with. "emerge" is great.

Does anybody know what the default password is on the new livecd? It isn't 'gentoo' as the faq states. TIA.
