If anyone has successfully installed and configured Gentoo on the Asus 1000HA netbook, could you please share the process you used. I am especially interested in your xorg configuration and wireless configuration (wicd?). Thanks. - John
I don't have an eeePC but have installed Gentoo on my Laptop (ASUS). I'm using wpa_supplicant for my wireless connection.
It is necessary to emerge wpa_supplicant (if using wpa_supplicant) before rebooting with the new kernel because one would have no wireless connection otherwise and it wouldn't be possible to do further installations.
My xorg is configured without an xorg.conf. In my make.conf I've set INPUT_DEVICES to "keyboard mouse synaptics" and everything runs very well. Be sure to emerge hal and copy the necessary fdi-files to /etc/hal/fdi/policies as explained in the documentation.
