Cool Failed to open the optical file disk

Hi everyone.
I downloaded the livedvd-x86-amd64-32ul-20140826.iso right here

http://mirrors.us.kernel.org/gentoo/.../x86/20140826/ but guess what... it doesn't work. For any reason, this is the error when I try to attach the dvd in the storage panel in the Virtualbox.

"Failed to open the optical file disk"

The dvd is not corrupted.

Thanks!

so you checked the file, and you are definitely sure the file was not damaged during download. You can try to mount that iso on linux/windows (without VritualBox) too to check if that works. Also you may have permission problems

I downloaded the minimal install and it works perfect. What do you think?
I haven't checked the file, and I'm not sure if the package is corrupted or not. The page doesn't have any md5sum file in order to verify the iso. So I'm not sure if the iso is damaged or not.

try mounting the iso as is (without virtualbox) and see if that works.
if that works, you can narrow your issue down to virtualbox.

If I mount the live cd, it works perfect, but, nothing to do with virtualbox. If I try the live minimal install, it works great, with no problem at all.

What's wrong?

well, if it mounts nicely otherwise, then it must be some virtualbox problem.
or maybe my logic is flawed.

I just used md5sum to ckeck for the iso, and everything is ok. It must be a Vitualbox problem. So I'm gonna give a try to Vmware.

wouldn't you rather try to solve your problem?
