Best kernel for a mash up distro?

Hi all,

I was very impressed with gentoo recently on a test machine so I am installing Funtoo onto my main laptop.

While installing through arch I compiled my own kernel only to find it hangs on loading a particular microcode, SO I tried to boot into my Funtoo partition using copies of the Arch vmlinuz and initrd only to find I got the same immense boot speed of gentoo, yet was using the ARCH kernel!

Now, I was wondering if there was a particular distro's kernel that supports large amounts of hardware for maintain acne, or a kernel that is particularly good for desktop use.
Also; how would I go about moving modules into the Funtoo system? I ask as I cannot seem to load ssb with the arch kernel...

You might want to have a look at the Liquorix kernel.
