You poor, poor deluded kids.

Historically new generations had the time to grow beyond their youthful rebelliousness and distrust of "adults", and to learn the foolishness of their previous actions in time to eliminate any deadly serious screwups.

I suspect that mine was the last generation graced with this precarious and fragile freedom.

Peace is an ideal that is, and has been paid for in blood. It has been paid for with the blood of tyrants, and the blood of patriots.

I feel that it won't be too long now before the "peaceniks" of the world, and of the US, will learn firsthand the foolishness of pacifism in the face of tyrants. And, in the wisdom of nipping despotism in the bud through the unwelcome necessity of war.

Learn your lesson well my young rebels, for if you are lucky you will have to try to convince your own grandchildren or great-grandchildren that in your youth you made the mistake of believing that "It's all about oil!".

arrogance is a common affliction

Yes, and it's all so easy to attribute "arrogance" to people who have the audacity to "warn" people of the consequences of their actions.

The nazis threw around the accusation of "arrogance" regularly to those who opposed them.

"Accusations" are a common retort....

neenee 02-24-2003 03:11 PM

no arrogance is being attributed to anyone, nor is anyone
being accused; but i will rephrase my reply, to prevent any
misunderstandings.

i do not mind people stating their opinion, only if they
choose to state it as a fact. if one chooses to state their
opinion as being a fact, i see that as arrogant, as he or
she can impossibly speak for everyone else.

and i dislike it when people speak as if they are speaking
for a group. voice your opinion, but just speak for yourself
please.

i think it is humorous that you voice your opinion with such grandeur :)

no offense meant, as always.

oh - and something i thought at first when
i read your post: 'why post about this here?',
since i thought this was a linux-related forum...

I often laugh when i see people going off to Iraq to act as 'human sheilds'.
Are these people so stupid to actually think that they can change anything? Do they think the goverments know or care that they are in Iraq?

neenee 02-24-2003 04:31 PM

i'll step out of this thread, as i am too sober.

I laugh for another reason...because they are so stupid as to not even grasp the truth that Saddam cares even less about them.

I liked it hearing that a few of them came home because they finally realized that they "might get killed"....

Gee!...just another epiphany or two & they might get a clue.

Yeah it's humorous in the same way as this Bushism is funny. It's like the American administration is telling the joke and no-one else 'gets' it. The US thinks that's because no-one understands the joke, but actually everyone understands it but we just don't find it funny!.

And that's turned into the joke!!! Because the jokes on us!

I'm really glad you guys find it funny too. What a blast.

Bert

Not too bad for a brand new site in my opinion. :)
