you've only yourself to blame
While updating some things on the server I admin I acidentally broke some critical stuff.
My fingers were a blurr, adrenaline pumping, whole lot of fun. Yes I recommend breaking critical software for fun if you like adrenaline and losing your job :D |

Boy do I know that feeling only on a bigger scale when the system you work on falls over (due to you) and hundreds of thousands of terminals around the world say: "System down. Contact service centre."

A great thing would be to set up a user mode Linux system and break it. Breaking would cause no damage, and fixing it would be good experience.
Its so safe I did an rm -rf / in UML, and totaled it, but I simply killed the UML processes and nothing changed. |
What. No BOFH excuse and come out smelling like a rose by fixing it?

Well...you don't feel as bad when you have a windows machine. See, windows machines break no matter what. Ive tested it. They break so often that it makes other OS' look good...especially linux. ;)
<rant1> Im so pissed off at my windows machine right now i could kill someone. I JUST got this problem. Ive had this damn machine for 2-2.5 years. It recently started RANDOMLY reseting on me. Now that is bullshit. Ive eliminated every possibility so that it cant be hardware so its gotta be windows. But, ive also re-installed windows over and over and over too. Im ready to put the thing out of it's misery and make it a Powerful intel 800mhz linux box. :D now that would be great. Im going to start building my P4, hopefully this week. </rant1> <rant = rant1^99> I have a webdesign project i need to do for a company but photoshop or anything else wont install. I think im going to literally cry. PLUS on top of it all, i have a stuffy nose, my nostrills hurt from the hard tissues i use, i cough more than a chronic smoker, and my temperature is above 100 degrees + im at school. :( |
hmm... i wonder what runlevel 9 is?
