WTF?? Legalizing spam??

See this story. Can you belief it?
A paragraph form the article:

All todays spammers applaud Tauzin's "Reduction in Distribution of Spam Act", as does the Direct Marketing Association. It's what spammers have always dreamed of. They would no longer need to hide their identities to thwart disconnection, on the contrary, once spamming is legal they would be able to sue any Internet Service Providers who disconnect them for 'spamming legally'. All of todays spammers will instantly increase their volumes ten-fold flooding the Internet in 'legal' spams, "ADV: Grow your Penis", "ADV: Want Some Viagra?", "ADV: Wanna spy of your Wife?", etc. With the "Reduction in Distribution of Spam Act" we'll wish for the 'little' spam problem we had today when spam was only 50% of all email on the Internet.

Wouldn't it be great to start spamming the spammers, y'know....giving 'em a taste of their own medicine. That'd be cool I think, especially if the whole consumer public got in on the act. They'd probably go running to Mr. Tauzin, complaining and whining, only to find out that the very same law allowing them to flood poeple's emailboxes gives people the freedom to reciprocate.

Man. Just when I get spamassasin tweaked perfectly this happens. :-)

Let them spam me all they want, it won't get through my filters. Using open source tools (postfix, spamassassin, and some old PI-166) I have effectively eliminated 90-95% of all spam to our company.

They wont stop spamming you, no matter how illegal it becomes. They will just figure out a loophole like they always do. That's why the good folks who develop spamassassin rule. They stay one step ahead of the spammers and keep our inboxes clean of the filth.

A postfix/spamd set up is remarkably easy and soooo worth it.
