wish me luck
i'm about to jump from red hat 9 to slackware 9.1 - cross your fingers for me!

Good luck 46&2!
That will be so much easier to use then Redhat :). Everything works and compiles in Slackware. I am very happy with Debian right now, but if I will ever be back to Slack? You bet :) |
Good luck! I would recommend dual booting rather than jumping straight over though; that way you can always go back. Slack is a very nice distro to install. If I had more time available to tinker I would be using Slack all the time rather than SuSE.

I want slack!
*sigh* good luck! dual booting seems like a good idea, though. Rememeber to backup! rock on. titanium_geek |
Good luck and let us know how you like the differences. :)

its really not hard at all, i dont know what people are talking about with the slackware leap, maybe its that it doesnt default to runlevel 5(4) like redhat and mandrake and you have to login then type startx? the install is very straightforward too I just dont get it...the only distros ive ever had a hard time with were sorcerer (because it labels your drives differently, probably just how grub does it but at the time i was a newb) and gentoo, if you want a distro thats hard to install for the average person then gentoo is it, if you want the easiest distribution in the world for the average person then gentoo is it...go figure
