windows xp installation BSOD
hi, my dad has got a new packard bell iMedia 2414.
he cant stand vista(understandably), and wants to install xp on it.
the problem is that it is an all-SATA configuration(hdd and cd drive), and xp has no native SATA support.
ive looked on the packard bell website, and cannot find any SATA/SCSI drivers for the 2414.
Tried an XP disc, which goes through all of the initial stuff where it talks about loading drivers, but before the configuration starts, BSOD.
Is it possible that this machine is just XP-incompatible (thats just silly)?
I dont think the lack of SATA drivers would cause a problem like this, as i have installed XP on my comp which is SATA. without the drivers it just says there are no hard drives, no BSOD.
If there is an incompatibility with XP, there are 2 options we can see:
duke it out with vista(though, that is BSODing constantly - even after several recoveries).
