Windows question: Licenses and upgrading between editions
Hi guys, Windows question below:
I have a Windows 7 Home Basic CD that I have installed and activated in my laptop with the license number included in the CD. Additionally, I have a desktop where I need to install Windows for work. There's a website for Latin America similar to Amazon where one vendor is selling Windows 7 Ultimate licenses (it's legal, it says the vendor is a MS partner, etc.). The vendor says the license comes with download links, but my connection sucks and I doubt I will be able to download it (maybe from another location though). My question is, would I be able to install Windows 7 Home Basic from my CD and use the license sold by this vendor to activate it and upgrade it to Win 7 Ultimate? Thanks for any help! |
I don't know if the various distribution media contain the same thing ... I doubt they do. And, if "your Internet connection sucks," I would suggest that you need "a round piece of plastic to hold in your hot little hands." I would purchase a real DVD with a license-code sticker and check the contents carefully.

Hi, thanks for your answer. I'll check the price of the DVD and compare it to the license price (the license is really cheap, so that's why I'm interested). In any case, I could buy it and use the download links from another location.

The Ultimate Edition license may not work the the Home Edition. |

Thanks for your help, guys. |
Glad it worked out.

Dunno ... this might be "the download generation," but I still like a thing.

Well you could also create usb drives too, maybe thats a good option for next time as they tend to be more reliable than dvd's for any OS windows included.
