windows issue =)
 

This probably aint the right forum to ask this question but I dunno any forum that is as great as this so Im going to post it here anyway.
When I formatted my windows hdd (wich isnt rare) I pressed "NTFS fast" by mistake, I noticed that when the formation was finished, I noticed it because it went fast and my hdd is now 2008 mbgit (it was 30 gbit from the start).
I have no clue on howto undo this, It probably aint possible since we all know that windows sux =).

I tryed one thing though, I placed my slack install cd int the cd rom driver and booted it from the cd. Then I checked if the hdd still was 2008mgbit, guess what, it was 2008 mgbit =(

Then I installed windows xp on a very small hdd (about 2 gbit) Then I ran that hdd as master and the "shrinked" hdd as slave. The comp said:
"harddrive slave error, press F1 to resume", so I cant boot it as slave.

I need help on both the quotes, mostly the hdd prob.

hmm..I'm really not sure, but what if you just do the whole partitioning and formatting again? shouldn't that fix the problem? I mean, formatting to some ntfs-polarbear-tooth-format or whatever won't dig the disk with a hammer or anything, it just creates a filesystem that can be erased and then re-created, right? and if windows's own tools are unable to do this, find somewhere a linux fdisk or equivalent, boot some linux and run it (or any tool that does this thing well...I'm not sure if windoze's fdisk will), then delete every partition from the disk you did this and then just re-create them in a different format...

I've done this kind of work several times...from fat32 to ext2 and various other type changes...the only difficultiness I've ever encountered is that windoze's fdisk just won't do the work unless you delete fat and create fat ;)

You can try repartitioning again your disk, if that doesn't work, i recommend to get PowerMax tools from maxtor.com and do a low-level format to your disk (those utilities also include tools to partitioning the hdd after the format), that saved my ass a bunch of times :)

well, I have tryed to re-partition my hdd, wich means: I deleted all the partitions in the partition table and then just formatted it.
The size of the hdd was still 2008mgbit.
Now im going to try that maxtor thingy =D

Only do that if you have a Maxtor hard drive...if not, then get the tools from whatever manufacturer makes your hard drive...using a different manufacturers tool either won't work or will mess up your drive.
