Assuming Windows ("My Computer" is a windows-ism, but you could be accessing a windows partition from linux - are you?)
The error means that Windows File Explorer is not working.
This seems clear enough. Since it is a proprietary program, there is no way to tell for sure why this should be. If it has been working before, then the program has become corrupted - possibly by a virus or other malware. Its hard to tell with windows.
If this is a new machine, and it does happen to new machines, then it means the install of windows is broken. Take it back where you got it and tell them to fix it.
In all the cases I can find, the fix is to reinstall windows or restore it from a backup (in safe mode).
Many of us have switched to gnu/linux because of nonsense like this.
There is a lot of malware for windows which will damage WExp, and make the computer unusable. I include in this category an MS Security Update which can also do this. (That article is a good read btw.)
It has also happened recently in Windows 7 OEM installs. Nobody seems to know why - restoring usually fixes the problem but I would want to see those vendors caned by customers rather than enabled. If the pre-install does not work, take it back to the shop.
I have noticed that, after using gnu/linux for some years, windows has become quite painful to use and maintain.
well, I think this is Linux forums, and if you are using MS windows this isn't appropriate place to ask solution for your problem, may be you can find better solution at some ms forums, tho I would like to help you if you clearly specify your problem mentioning list of thing specified by "paulsm4".
@#%%! (checks) User info says 11 posts, at the rate of 11 posts/day ... i.e. posted 11 times today. Checking posts though shows quite a wide variety not expected from a troll. It looks more like someone who has just installed Ubuntu and is having fun learning all about it.

Actually, LQ is a reasonable place to ask about windows too. We want to attract these guys so we can show them how much better gnu/linux is
However: you have a point. linux software is not the place for a windows question - unless the error is coming from wine? Is this even possible? If it is a windows question, and it sure looks like one, then it belongs in general or non-nix.

in a new tab - I don't even get an opportunity to login - it seems to know who I am, and my password and I don't even have windows on this machine. Is it magic???
