Will Apple II software run on an Apple IIe?

Hi all, I recently rescued an old Apple IIe from the garbage. Just for some shits and giggles I'd love to play some old games on it. My question: if I buy a game that was made for the Apple II, will it run on an Apple IIe? I really have no idea about any hardware pre-1995 since I wasn't around then so any advice would be great. Thanks!

I dunno, if it came with any documentation consult it. Or you could always get an emulator and try to see the IIe emulator loads a II program.

Thank you Jeebizz. I just successfully ran an Apple II rom in an Apple IIe emulator. Whether or not that translates to it working on the real thing is yet to be seen, but I'm confident it will work.
