Why do you have a blog?

First, who cares?

I don't have a blog. The first problem that i have is, who the hell would possibly be interested in what i have to say, the same goes for all you guys. With all the people on the internet, blogging and discussing things. Who do you think really gives a shit about what you have to say? I don't mean that in a rude way, but you are those people?

Second, why exactly do you blog?

What is it that drives you to talk about yourself to everyone on the internet. This is an odd, perhaps even narcissistic behaviour, although that's probably being too harsh, that people have, to just talk about themselves and tell everyone about what they've been up to.

Last, what do you blog about?

Are you consciously aware that you're just blogging about what you ate for breakfast and what colour your poo was this morning, and how exciting that could possibly be for anybody reading your posts

That's weird... I was also thinking about why there were so many blogs. For my part, I use my blog to record what I do to my slackware box, so that if I have to do it again, I don't have to research all the solutions again.

Sounds to me like you've been reading some pretty rubbish blogs. There's plenty of dire ones, right enough, but there's plenty of others that are well worth reading.

If you think blogs are just about people writing about what they've done recently, you've missed out on a great deal. . .

I have the same feelings you have with blogs towards meaningless posts that bitch about personal blogs on a technical forum...

First, who cares?

Apparently you do for bringing it up in a technical forum. Perhaps if you think no one would be interested in what you have to say, then your probably right and you could be a very boring person.

Secondly, the blogs where others talk about themselves, you ever wonder that they might keep it up for family or friends to know what's going on in their lives.

Thirdly, sounds like you have read some crappy blogs. I have yet to come across a blog where the user was rambling on with what they had for breakfast or what color their poo was.

Sounds to me like you're bored and you worry about stupid things, perhaps you should find a hobby instead of bitching about what others do on the net.

Blogs are a waste of time and energy except maybe technical ones which really help out and teach us something.

Why do you have a blog?

so ... what do you intend to read on the internet ?? ... a book ... ??

or , better still ... do some real things ... things that you are sure to waste your full life time without achieving any "purposeful" ends ...

or ... like me , just dont bother about other people affairs ... live to a nice old age and still be sweet ...

I do have one on which I post the short stories I write. I am a published author, so it is quite nice to offer something more to people who might be interested.
Nothing personal, because as most people say and I think, quite correctly, who cares about anybody's life, anyway.

I won't even give a link to it because I write in French

And I swear that I don't have a blog.
No I don't have a blog.

Well, actually I lied.

Heres mine.

I post pretty regularly. Atleast twice every other year now.

I think the whole purpose of bloggin' is to get in on this big fashion of the moment. BIG PENIS. Like, using an annoyingly small font, and having a RSS FEED, and your BUDDY LIST, and your PERSONAL AVATAR. And your ARCHIVES, like a calandar thing where you CLICK on the links to see which dates have entries in the blog to them. Gotta have some STATUS on the internet... assert your presence. You know what I'm saying? That said, there are good BLOGS where people have come about to talk about CURRENT EVENTS or PROJECTS like POLITICS or the ADOBE FLASH PLAYER. Do you understand?

On the other hand!!! Heh heh. Trickykid, you look PISSED OFF! Did GARDA strike a nerve there with you? Hehehehe. You sly fox.

I actually subscribe to OneandOneis2's blog and Harishankar's blog. I think they're pretty good. So in answer to the question for them, "Yes, someone cares about what they have to say--I do."

As for my own blog, it's not for public consumption. I write it for friends who just want to spy on what I'm up to and thinking. I'm not vain enough to think strangers give two s**ts about what I'm thinking or doing.

In any case, if you don't want to read something, don't read it. No one is forcing you to read blogs. If a blog is of interest to you, read it. If not, don't read it. What's the problem?

Or, to quote you:

haha ... blackbox is a great one ... i'm still having it for no other reason than to run my linux properly back then although i already got icewm and rox which i'm quite satisfied with but that "intensive and pessimistic" period does give me a bad habit that i'm actually running windows without any borders at all or else basically everythings are either on the left side or the right side of the monitor ...

btw ... almost forget that lq has their own blog ... ^_^
