Who's the technician in your household?

Hey linux fans,

You know in some households there's always someone who is a computer or electronic enthusiast. Family and/or friends go to that person for help or suggestions on computers. In my household, I am the technician. I do the hardware and software installations and upgrades. When I get a new computer, I always build it myself to my liking.

So, who is the technician in your household?

My dog, a Jack Russell bitch. I have to confess it was her who installed Slackware.

Thanks for the input pixellany and brianL.

It's not an exciting thread, just wrote it as a curiosity as who is the techno geek in the household.

It has a cord and you can plug it into wall then I can troubleshoot it.

However, if it is something that you have to cut with a saw or weld with a torch then call a professional.

Me, of course! My wife is not nearly as techie, but some of my skilz have rubbed off on her, and she's willing to try new things. That's lucky for me, because I accidentally hosed her Windows installation a few months back. (Actually it wasn't me, directly. Her filesystem died an unnatural death while my Linux box was copying data to it.) She was willing to try Linux for a change, and didn't go crying every time she couldn't get something to work.

All members of my household.

We just have different interests when it comes to "technology" and different capabilities when it comes to other household stuff like repairs or construction.

Chances are if you're on LQ.org, you would be the official household technician. My girlfriend does not post here nor does my dog...
