Whomever knows developers....

From a recovering windows 98, 2000 (prefered dozes of choice) addict and now on to my new flavor of linux. One little gripe I would like to make and I understand the reasons behind not including them* but it would be so much better if you wanted to get a darn linux app and when you downloaded it it came with all the necessary dependent files needed to have an fully functional application or utility.

Broadband connections alive and spreading to every corner of the earth just include the required files to run it. People are going to most likely then not need to download the files anyways so why not make it a one stop shop.

Microsoft maybe like milk but when you download a phat app you'll have all the necessary stuff to install it.

Sounds like a case of dependency hell. That's part of the price you pay for choice. If you use rpms just keep a browser on rpmfind.net and grab'em as the dependencies come up. The more you use Linux you'll find your favorites among the thousands or apps available.

i'm starting to come to that conclusion. i am totally cool sitting home on a friday night pounding away at my mdk9 till 2am. its not a case of having nothing to do, i make apparel for the action sports market (surf, skate, snowboard) hell i produce a high qual pair of thong panties as well as a solid women's line of clothing so the whole i don't have a life thing isn't the issue here...

i think i am addicted
may need to stop going to NA and look for a LA (linux anonymous) group meeting or something...

anyways enough babbling.

... although i would be oh so happy if i could get my sound to work...

Post your soundcard type in hardware and we'll give it a shot. Run "sndconfig" in a term and see what you get.
