The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
As for tech book, I've yet to find the need to buy one. |
Non-Technical: The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien
This book has a lot of themes and ideas relevant to my life and it also helped spark my interest in languages and etymology. Technical: Moving to Linux: Kiss the Blue Screen of Death Goodbye! by Marcel Gagné This book gave me the confidence to try out Linux and allayed my fears that it was too hard. Cheers - Jessica |
For those of you with a scientific bent
The Making of the Atomic Bomb by Richard Rhodes (this book won a pulitzer) If nothing else, it is a great read about WWII, the power of science, the power of sheer will, and it is very, very pertinent as to what's going on today with proliferation. Honestly, a very very good read. I saw Jared Diamond's "Guns Germs and Steel" mentioned - that is wonderful. His first book: "The Third Chimpanzee" also quite good. |
