Post Which monospaced computer-style font is your favourite?

And where to download it if it's free?
Mine is the one that comes with SystemRescueCD. Does anyone know where can I download it?

Mine is Inconsolata.

You get it from the Google Font Directory:

Terminus for Terminal.

Actually it's the monospace font I have set in Firefox, too (e.g. when rendering things posted here in

tags).

DejaVu Sans Mono. It makes a clearer distinction between l and 1 than most (like Inconsolata), for instance.

The Monospace (i.e. the default) that comes with GNOME and Xfce (or for that matter Ubuntu) is my favorite. I prefer it over Courier New because Courier New has a tendency to constantly change, especially here. I've noticed that posts here with Courier New in them sometimes look like they have an insanely small Times-equivalent font in them.

DejaVu Sans Mono in GUIs (text editors, etc).
(But you can't beat MS Consolas. )
Lat2-Terminus16 in the console (no X).

You could look through /etc/fonts/conf.d and find out what it is. Just grep the directory for "Monospace" (case insensitive) and you'll see which file you need to look in.

A sans serif fixed that i made from a serif font by editing it and removing all the serifs. I like it because it is thinner than the DejaVu fixed

Monaco is pretty (I've seen in on Mac) but I'm not sure what is behind it in terms of copyright...
Droid Mono is also pretty good...

I like DejaVu Sans Mono (the default in most distros) and Inconsolata.

I also like Dina, but it's too small.
