Where do I put my text files

I just downloaded a new font, and I was wondering what folder I put it in? I use RedHat 8.0, please reply.

I'm confused - text files or fonts? And do you mean you don't know where to install it to or install it from? If it's Red Hat, rpm's will just go where they go, I guess. If you can't find them, try su, updatedb, locate foo.rpm or something like that. Or maybe the rpm thing will tell you directly - some switch that would mean 'where's my file?'

Oh, I see. And it doesn't have an installer. So you need to know where to put them. Duh. I wasn't thinking. I've got to say I have no idea, unfortunately. /usr/X11/lib/fonts maybe?

But .zip? Shouldn't they be tar.gz or bz2 or something?

Let me know if you get them in and you like them - Linux really needs more and better fonts.
