What tricks can use ??
Here members can share their tricks, how they are increasing their number of post and thanked, when they replying to others threads, But it won't make sense to others that our sole intention is to increasing the no of post and thanked.
:hattip: |
AHM...What exactly are you talking about?
|
Really i am expecting some tricks..!!
|
I increase my post count by checking 'Linux - Newbie' for threads i can answer and answer them if i feel like it.
|
"Tricks" of what sort? Tricks to magically increase your posts count or thanked count, without actually posting or getting thanked?
I don't understand the question. But there are no "tricks" when it comes to posting, thanking, or being thanked. Sasha |
May be he is talking about the members who post regularly in the introduction forums
and write the following message in their signature ! "Please click the thanks button" But I don't know why OP is concerned about all this ? |
If you guys know any trick of that kind, let me know as well :D
Just kidding ;) |
May be some members here do not understand that increasing the post count or the thanks count does not increase the knowledge !
How will the things be different if you are a senior member here through your post count but your knowledge is equal to that of a newbie's ? |

kirukan,
Is there an actual question in all this? I realize it's the General forum, and so you can pretty much go on forever with this bizarre circular logic you have going on :) but if you are actually trying to get a sensible answer to some obscure question, maybe you could re-phrase your question such that we might understand exactly what it is you want to know!?! I'm pretty sure myself and others would like to answer you, but I think I am not alone in wondering what you're talking about. Sasha |
Here's my trick:
Take a look at the question, if you are reasonably sure you have an answer that will help, then go ahead and answer it. If you have had experience with a certain problem, then for sure post that too if it is relevant. In general, don't try to answer questions that are distro-specific unless you use or have used that distro, unless it is a distro-independent issue and you are reasonably sure of that. It's best to avoid posting in General, because your post count will not go up, you cannot get thanked, and you'll probably get pissed off by politics or stupidity or trolling, etc. |
For the most part, whether your post deserves to be thanked or not doesn't seem to relate in anyway to whether it'll actually get thanked. From casual observation, most the folk who I would view as having a reputation for providing quality posts seem to come in at a thanks/posts ratio of about 1 in 10. There are exceptions(*), but this seems to be the prevailing rate.
Just play your part in the LQ community and treat the stats as an idle curiosity. It's not like they're a high-score in some competition or game. Reputation is far more important. (*) Some folk have been around a lot longer than the thanks system and their ratio will be artificially low because of this. |
Well said GazL !
