I never considered putting seeds in the spice cabinet before that. I don't now why? Their good for us and taste great, thanks again to Frank!
Has the Aldi store chain found its way across the Atlantic yet? Originally German, it's a grocery store that's very popular in the UK now for its prices. From time-to-time there is 8-seed bread flour for sale, containing wheat, barley, rye, oat, maize, linseed, millet seed, and sunflower seed; and very good it is, too.

Yes, Aldi is in the US, and growing. A new one is being built near where I live. I have no experience with the chain, but I expect to after it opens, if for nothing other than curiosity. There is a large grocery across the street from this one, as well as a SuperWalMart in the next block, and another grocery chain not far away. It's going to be a very competitive market. The Houston, TX area has always been a cutthroat grocery market, and most large US chains have tried and failed here. But more competition is good for the customer, so I'm happy enough to see another chain give it a try.

I turn wrenches on my Jeep, I have enough money wrapped up in bicycles to buy a new car so I ride those. Knives have recently caught my fancy so I'm spending some time reading about them various steels and history. I go to the range once a month with a few guys from work for skeet and sporting clays.

The weekends are devoted to my wife an daughter since I'm gone all week and that generally means shopping with my wife on Saturdays and Skating or helping my daughter with her you tube videos on Sundays.

Basically I'm just an average guy.

Listen to the radio, play games (mostly retro), listen to music (most genres).

Not much and sometimes that's a concern as I recently lost my Wife and Best Friend.
I should get out of the freakin' house, but I needed to do so before Wanda passed.

I am a typical Linux geek. Isolated and I don't play well with others.
I have few Social skills but I do enjoy being sociable when I am out, on occasion.

This too shall pass.
I could use a Vacation after near 6 years of keyboard jockeying.

Sorry to hear about your wife

At least you're not in an alcohol induced stupor like I would if my wife passed

My sympathies to those of you who have recently been bereaved by the deaths of close family members or friends. These words were passed on to me by a friend who had heard them at a funeral.
Quote:
What will matter?
by Michael Josephson
used with permission of the author

Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end.......

There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days.
All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten will pass to someone else.

Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance.
It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed.

Your grudges, resentments, frustrations and jealousies will finally disappear.
So too, your hopes, ambitions, plans and to-do lists will expire.
The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.

It won't matter where you came from, or what side of the tracks you lived on, at the end.
It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant.
Even your gender and skin colour will be irrelevant.

So what will matter?
How will the value of your days be measured?

What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built,
not what you got but what you gave.
What will matter is not your success, but your significance.

What will matter is not what you learned, but what you taught.
What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage, or sacrifice
that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.
What will matter is not your competence, but your character.

What will matter is not how many people you knew,
but how many will feel a lasting loss when you're gone.
What will matter is not your memories, but the memories that live in those who loved you.
What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.

Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident.
It's not a matter of circumstance but of choice.
You can choose to live a life that matters.

I used to work in merchandising, loading pallets, washing commercial vehicles, watering plants, welding, automotive mechanics...

Outside of work and computers, I really like fishing at the beach. The tools are kind of at a weird point in being both primitive and highly sophisticated from certain perspectives (I bet the tech for making my fish hooks is worth billions of dollars, and yet it's just a piece of metal I tie to the end of some also incredibly advanced plastic fishing line). It can be challenging: some days the weather or stuff in the water is just out to test your patience, other times just catching the fish really takes your best effort. It's also far away from computers and everything else - even my phone gets set into a ziplock bag and I couldn't hear it over the waves if it rang anyway.

I used to like gardening, but because of the water shortages here all of the gophers went straight for the residential areas from the fields and now planting anything is just foolish. Someday I'll get the up the nerve to rebuild my garden box to have a real bottom and then I could continue, but who knows when that will be.
