i personally don't plan on moving my friends to linux but i do suggest linux to everyone that i hear make one complaint about something in windows. but i never try and push linux on too many people. i don't want people to think that us linux users/admins are zealots or anything. so i suggest linux to people but that is the farthest i go.
I think the numbers of linux users is on the rise. But I am not really concerned about it. People are going to find the system that works for them and are going to decide what they want. It is better now that more and more people are seeing there is a choice.
Personally, I am not planning to use Windows anytime in the near future. I actually have nothing, or very little, against Windows. It just isn't my preferred system. I don't plan on converting anyone away from Windows either (although I have seen some conversions through, recently) unless people ask me to help them move away from it.
One of the best things about choice is that you can respect other people's ability to make a different one than your own.
