Very true. I am a guitar player, and I play death metal and technical stuff all the time. I play dying fetus just to play; it used to be a challenge, now it's not.

As far as "technical," enjoy this song.... Be sure to be sitting down http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SRD6mjrUMo

Nice solo. I'm a guitar player myself. Unfortunately, I'm not musically talented so I mostly admire the work of others (Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Guthrie Govan)

It is if you do not understand the purpose of Linuxquestions.org. LQ's prime purpose is to be a knowledge base for all things GNU/Linux and to be a home for the LQ Community. Each and every user helps by asking and answering questions in the technical fora and it's these contributions that help make LQ grow. The LQ General forum doesn't because of the topics it is home to and it should be viewed more like a water cooler: a place to hang out with fellow LQ members. And like in R/L most people can not get away with hanging around the water cooler all day. Access to the LQ General forum is a perk, not a "right".

Questions and comments via email please.

So if you are not musically talented, why do you play then? LOL just messing with you man... I'm completely self taught, been playing for going on 7 years. Took me about two years just to get down my sweeps..... And that brings me into my next artist of "expertise".... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aS_IYe5JTZ4

I play the guitar to annoy people around. LOL. Well I'm not totally useless at guitar, but it doesn't seem like I'll ever be exceptional at it. I could practise a lot but It won't change the fact that I'm never going to be as good as I'd like to be. It's not being negative. It's just being realistic. Not everyone can be an oustanding musician.

While I accepted the above, I still enjoy playing the guitar, which is the most important thing.

Yeah, good old Yngwee. I have mixed feelings about him. His arpeggios/technique are brilliant but on the whole he's a bit boring. The structure of 99% of his songs is as follows:

Code:
boring - boring - boring - nice solo - boring - boring - boring - boring - ok solo - boring - boring - I'm glad that's over
.

Right now i am bouncing between Ozzy-crazy train, Warrant-Cherry Pie, Ke$ha-Take it Off, and Iron maiden- Flash of the blade. All while trying to fix a problem that has me baffled. Probably not the best music during a time of frustration eh?
