Since a few days I listen to the jazz music in chronological order starting from 1956. At the moment I’m in 1963 and listen “The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady” by Charles Mingus. A masterpiece...

Only that far? You need to go further back and discover Cab Calloway, particularly his hit: Minnie The Moocher. If you also seen the Blues Brothers movie there is a cover of it as well.

-edit

Slightly different version of Minnie The Moocher

Now I listen to the modern jazz from 1956 to the present. Then I will listen to the traditional jazz from 1955 back to 1927.

As for Cab Calloway's song I know it and ``Blues Brothers'' is one of my favorite movies.

Today I listened a few Albert Ayler's albums from 1964.
