Is the port in the laptop excessively hot from the loose connection? I ran into this issue on my Panasonic Cf-48 Toughbook and the heat eventually fried the ac adapter and also ruined the female barrel socket on the laptop where it plugged in.
Soldering in a new female connector in the laptop and of course, buying a new ac adapter fixed my problem.
Loose DC connections build up extreme heat over time which will even melt solder joints on a motherboard where the female jack is soldered in. Hopefully you have one of those internal female DC barrel sockets that use a wire harness plug instead of solder to connect to the mother board. That is a easier fix that a solder fix.
So IMO. I would blame the motherboard side before I would blame the ac male adapter barrel jack side. Without physically handling it.
