I don't have a portable player - don't need one as I can generally hear somebody elses.
Man, there's going to be a whole deaf generation...

If it's too loud you're too old. Man.

Maybe - but I've never been (acoustically) attracted to the MP3 format. Does playing it loud make it sound better ?.
Perhaps you're right - too old.

If you were my friend on last.fm, then you could just check there to see what I've been listening to. You would see Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Ozzy, Dio, Rainbow, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Blue Oyster Cult, Cream, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Jimi Hendrix, Scorpions, Motorhead, Metallica, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Janes Addiction, etc.

I don't know how old is too old, but I'm 38 and I listen with all knobs to the right because all men play on 10. Except me, 'cause my player goes to 11.

What? Say again louder!

I tend to agree. I only turn up the volume in my car when going at high speed, the noise of the tires rubbing against asphalt is rather loud, so I have to compensate. Other than that, there's no reason to turn it louder unless you want to damage your ears, or impress the people you stop next to at a stop sign.
