What Are You Listening To On Your <Generic Portable Audio Player>?

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
It's been a while since I wrote a thread, so I'd like to ask, what are you listening to around now on your <generic portable audio player>?

To kick off, I have series one and two of Sapphire & Steel on mine and I listen to them on the way to and from work and while walking the dog or walking anywhere.

Notice that I'm not mentioning which audio player I use as that's a different discussion. I just want to know what you are listening to. Because not only am I nosy, I'm sure you are too

Mostly TWiT and Linux Podcasts.

I had lost my interest in music in the late 80's but discoving internet radio brought it back. However after they arrested an 80 your old blind man for playing a Beetles song on his harmonica in a bar, and the royalty commission in the US is putting internet radio services out of business and are now moving on to attack radio the same way*, I've lost interest again. Plus music isn't as important as you grow older.

It seems that the music industry in now a swarm of evil lawyers preying on the public out of pure greed and spite. I can't support that.

*ala ascap's attempt agains radio stations decades ago which gave birth to the creation of BMI in response by the radio industry.

Well, really, I'm not that enthusiastic about music such as to listen to it everywhere I go. Sometimes I do, either on the CD player in my car or on my gp2x, but many times I don't. Typically I only listen to it if I'm really depressed or angry ... which actually does happen reasonably often, I would be listening to Nirvana, Marcy Playground, Third Eye Blind, Toadies. I also like Coldplay, but I'd rather not listen to it for too long as I may become suicidal.

Hey, there's a 3rd Eye Blind fan apart from me?! My current favourites these days are Sufjan Stevens (the Illinois album), The Shins (see sig), and The Flaming Lips. Pearl Jam is an evergreen fav, and I hear the occasional RATM song if I need a heavy charge up (their Live performance at the Grand Olympic Stadium is a great collection).

Yes, I like Third Eye Blind, but mostly their older albums, it seems like almost all bands (except Nirvana and Toadies due to their abrupt end) their performance degrades with time. I guess they run out of imagination ?

I don't have a portable, though I am thinking about getting one. I am streaming liveireland.com through my internet connection right now.

+1 for the generic post.

i got a lot of music on mine (hip-hop, r & b, reggae mixtapes) but the most obscure is the stuff i downloaded from adultswim.com

also,

not music related but i put knoppix-live-usb on a 1 gb partition of my portable media player so i can knoppix on my laptop and still have a dvd drive.

Death by Stereo
Bad Religion
Pennywise
Stormtroopers of death
Rammstein
Slayer
Black Flag
Minor Threat

are the bands I currently have on my cheap-o mp3 player.

Right now I'm listening to Bad Religion's "No Direction". Inspirational.
